Kenny Mallard Obituary

Kenny Mallard

July 20, 1950 - November 17, 2022

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith."

2 Timothy 4:7

A memorial service for George Kenny Mallard, Jr. 72, of Bryan is scheduled at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at A&M United Methodist Church in College Station. The Reverend Preston Greenwaldt will officiate. Mr. Mallard died Thursday, November 17, 2022.

He was born to George and Sissy Mallard in Bryan, Texas on July 20, 1950, and graduated from Bryan High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1973 with a degree in Marketing. Kenny and his dad owned Mallard Insurance Agency where he worked for 27 years. Following those years, he was proud to represent the constituents in Precinct 3 as their Brazos County Commissioner from 2003 to 2016. He retired in December of 2016.

Kenny was devoted to his community, not only through the Jaycees and Bryan City Council, but also numerous other boards and commissions for Bryan-College Station and Brazos County. He was a volunteer Bryan Police Reserve officer for 36 year, as well as a Reserve officer for the Brazos County Attorney's Office and the Brazos County Sheriff's Office for an additional 8 years. In addition, he served on and took special interest in the Research Valley Partnership, High Speed Rail project, and Scotty's House. If you talked to Kenny, he would tell you that his personal interests included his membership as a youth in the Boy Scouts, playing soccer in an over-30 league, creating stained glass art, welding, fireworks, snow skiing, and spending time with friends.

Left to honor Kenny and to share in his legacy are his wife of 39 years, Ann; his son, Michael Mallard and his wife Sammie; his amazing grandchildren, Pearle and Gus, of Austin, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Ken and Marcia (Mallard) Westenhaver of La Porte, Colorado; and three nephews and three nieces.

A special thanks to Visiting Angels Rhonda Dunn and Ty Richards, to the staff of St. Joseph Manor, and to Hospice Brazos Valley.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to A&M United Methodist Church, Scotty's House, Caring Bridge, Renner Academy (for dyslexia), Operation Safe Shield or the charity of your choice.

Kenny was a good guy and had a great sense of humor. I knew him as a player on his "over 30 league" soccer team (though a lot of us were over 40 then) and also through my wife who had worked with him and George at the insurance company.
Sorry that I had not talked with him in quite a while.
My prayers and sincere condolences to the family.
