September 28, 1959 - September 3, 2014
Sherri Lynn Horan "Brushfyre", age 54, of Bryan, Texas was granted her angel wings on September 3, 2014 at her home. Sherri's life may have seemed far too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her gentle smile and caring personality brought so much joy to everyone who knew her.
Sherri was born on September 28, 1959 to H.R. and Shirley Plunkett Longino in Dallas, Texas. She was raised in Houston, Texas by her mother and stepfather, Wm. D. Arnett. She graduated from Jersey Village High School in Houston, Texas where she nurtured her creative side. She was extremely passionate about photography, writing, and reading. She would spend a lot of her down time taking pictures of nature and her many loved ones, reading for hours on end, or writing poetry and journaling about her life. She wrote some wonderful poems and had a couple of published pieces.
Sherri loved to be surrounded by her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Sherri nearly lost her life to a house fire in 1998. This difficult experience brought her closer to the Lord and made her appreciate each day even more. She was full of life and lived to have a good time with those who mattered most to her. One of her favorite past times was spending time at renaissance festivals where she made many lifelong friends. She was truly loved by so many.
Sherri is survived by her mother, Shirley Yvonne Arnett of Cushing, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Keisha and Josh Flanagan of Marshall, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Kacey and Krista Carter of Caldwell, Tx; grandchildren, Grayson Flanagan and Kash Carter; stepbrothers, Jim and Richard Arnett, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She is proceeded in death by her step-father, Wm. D. Arnett; brother, Michael Arnett; sister, Regina E. Kubicek and step-brother, Wm. D. Arnett Jr.
A memorial will be held October 25th at the campgrounds of the Texas Renaissance Festival beginning at 8p.m., with a benefit auction to help with funeral expenses. There will also be a memorial at Cooks Point Brethren Church in Cooks Point, Tx, Sunday October 26th at 3 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Nat Cemetery in Nat, Texas, November 16th at 2 p.m. with a graveside memorial.
