I offer my heartfelt condolences to the Mason family. I had the privilege to work part-time for Dr. Mason from 1972 to 2000. He was among the most caring physicians I have ever met, always treating his patients with great respect and kindness, and a sincere wish to help them; he was also a considerate and patient boss, who did not hesitate to take the time to explain and teach in spite of the enormous demands on his time. Aside from his extraordinary and well-documented achievements in surgery, he was a person of immense integrity, compassion, and humility. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work for him for so many years. May he be resting in peace.

Ed Mason was a gentleman in every sense of the word, and a brilliant one at that! We enjoyed knowing both Ed and Dordana in our Adult Ed class at First Presbyterian Church, and they both added so very much to the group. Visiting with them in their home was a delightful experience, and seeing their mutual respect for each other was wonderful. The world will miss Ed and his extraordinary mind, and we will miss his friendship, as we have missed Dordana's. Blessings to the family.
