Andrea "Andy" Joseph Pirro, 68, of North East, MD passed away on October 8, 2013.
Andy was born in Jelsi, Campobasso, Italy to the late Joseph and Theresa Pirro. Andy came to the United States at the age of 10 and grew up in Norwalk, CT. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War,receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
After the Navy, Andy owned and operated several restaurants including the Clam Box in Havre de Grace, MD. Andy enjoyed his antique car, riding motorcycles and playing cards. He was an avid fisherman and a phenomenal chef, always leaving everyone happy and well fed. Andy always took pride and joy in his gardening, especially his fig trees. He was a member of the American Legion Post 135 Perryville, MD and the Recycled Teenage Cruisers. More importantly, Andy was a kind friend to all; you would come as a stranger, but would always leave as family.
Survivors include his loving wife Margaret "Maggie" Pirro of North East, MD; daughter Teresa Renee Frazier and her husband Paul of Togiak, AK; two sisters Filomena Ferraro and her husband Joseph of Norwalk, CT and Angela Avery and her husband Robert of Berlin, CT; four grandchildren Justin Andrew Bohlen, Lauren Elizabeth Glynn, Allison Rachel Glynn and Gabrielle Nicole Frazier and two nephews and one niece Joseph Ferraro, Jr., Robert Avery Jr., and Carol Ann Avery and his loving Doberman, Apollo.
Funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 135 in Perryville, MD.
