Kenneth Hickey Obituary

Hickey, Kenneth T.
Kenneth Thomas Hickey, age 84, of Westport, CT, formerly of Wilton, devoted husband of Helene Hickey, passed away on August 16, 2016.
Ken was born in New York City, February 1, 1932, the son of the late Ida Marie (Scotillo) and Michael Pierce Hickey. He grew up in Parkchester, a Bronx community in New York. Kenneth attended Our Lady of Solace School and Manhattan College High School. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Pace University (1958) and Master of Business Administration degree from Stern School of Business, New York University (1961) in New York City.
During the Korean War, Ken served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He later was Treasurer of Conorada Petroleum Corporation, an international oil exploration company owned by Conoco, Marathon Oil, and Amerada until 1962. He retired from Exxon Corporation in 1986 after 25 years of service, including various financial management positions with Creole Petroleum Corporation in Venezuela, Assistant Controller of Exxon International Company, and the last ten years as Controller for Esso Middle East which managed Exxon's oil and gas interests in the Middle East and North Africa.
Following Ken's retirement from Exxon, he was a financial management consultant with Merrill Lynch & Company, Inc., Rodman & Renshaw, Inc., and Tucker Anthony Inc., members of the New York Stock Exchange, the New York Blood Center, and ended his business career from 1990-1995 as Chief Financial Officer of Market Imaging Systems, Inc.
Ken was also an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Wilton since 1972 where he had been a member of the Finance Committee, a Trustee, Eucharistic Minister, and Lector.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Ann Iannacone and her husband, Robert, of Westport and his son, Kenneth Michael Hickey and his wife, Heather, of Wilton, CT. Ken loved and enjoyed his five grandchildren Kellie and Zach Iannacone, Mckinley and Myles Hickey, and Shaylin Greco very much, and was a special part of their lives. Ken and Helene proudly and happily said their marriage was made in heaven. Their wonderful love and devotion to each, their children, and grandchildren were admired by everyone.
Ken was always respected by his co-workers, friends, and family for his kindness and integrity. His quick wit and great sense of humor were always entertaining. He will be missed greatly by all, however we are comforted knowing his examples of patience, humility, love, and caring will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
During the two years Ken spent at the Notre Dame Convalescent Home, his gentle nature was appreciated by the staff. In 2015, Notre Dame selected him as Father of the Year. The family is extremely grateful for the compassion and loving care he received.
Calling hours will be Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport, CT. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT. Full military honors will follow outside the Church. Cremation will be private.
