Danielle Sawatzky-Durant Obituary
Danielle M. "Dani" Sawatzky-Durant, 27, Groton, NY died unexpectedly in Syracuse, NY on January 21, 2016. Born October 29, 1988 in Norwich, CT, she was the daughter of Robin May of Groton and Larry Sawatzky (Leslie Oliver) of Enfield, NY. Those whose lives she touch knew she was a beautiful sweet woman. Besides her parents, she is survived by her son, Mason Smith (Aaron Smith) who brought the gift of joy to her life; two half-brothers and two half-sisters; her grandfather, Robert (Shirley) May of Groton; her uncle and aunt, Keith (Patricia) May of Palmyra, NY; cousins Leah, Emma May; as well as several other aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Linda May. Graveside services will be held in the spring in the Groton Rural Cemetery. A memorial fund for her son, Mason is being established, contributions may be sent to Aaron Smith, 8 Goodband Rd., Freeville, NY 13068. Condolences may be left with the guest book at www.zirbelfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are in the care of the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams Street, Groton.

Dear Robin and family of Dani. We were devastated to just read of Danielle's passing. We will be praying for you, especially that God will give you comfort through your days of grieving. We know the deep pain of losing a young and precious daughter. Our Katti and Danielle were born the same year. If we can be of help, you know where we are. Words simply cannot describe, or detail the beautiful complexity that was Danielle.
She was not only a wife to me in one point in time, but my best friend, who always knew how to put a smile on anyone's face that she came across.
A flower my loose a petal, but a rose never looses its beauty.
I'm heartbroken for her family and her son, and most importantly for her.
May you rest easily hun, I love you.

Robin and Larry and families..my heart breaks for you at this sad time. I hadn't seen Dani since she was a child and it's obvious she was loved and will be missed by many. Keep your memories alive and she will be with you always.

I am so sorry for your loss. Danielle frequently visited Mahogany Grill in Ithaca NY. It was always a pleasure serving her and her fiance when they came in to dine with us. She was a very sweet and kind woman.

Robin and Larry, my heart is breaking for you both. Dani was a beautiful child and an even more beautiful young woman. I was thrilled when she brought Mason into my store so I could meet him.
