ROY F. KNAPP
MORAVIA - Roy F. "Ike" Knapp, 70, of Atwood Road, Moravia, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at the Mercy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Auburn after an extended illness.
Mr. Knapp was born April 24, 1937 in Springport, a son of the late William and Nancy Ammerman Knapp, and was a lifelong resident of southern Cayuga County. Following his graduation from CCBI in Syracuse, Roy was employed for many years with Carrier Corp. in Syracuse. He retired from Cargill Inc. in Lansing and afterward was employed part-time for Agway in Ithaca.
He was an Army veteran and proudly served with the 101st Airborne Division.
Roy was mechanically inclined and was known to be able to build or repair anything. He also enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting and gardening.
He is survived by his five children, Melissa (Michael) Giambruno of Attica, Theresa (Edward) Rogalski of Auburn, Candace (Dennis Canfield) Bonvino and Alan (Terry) Knapp, both of Moravia, and Riley Knapp of Sylvan Beach; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a brother, James of Auburn; five sisters, Hazel (Peter) Borza, Julia Helinski, and Betty Schwartz, all of Auburn, Mildred Latham of OK, and Anita Taboh of Albany; his close sister-in-law, Joan Knapp of Locke; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, Genoa, with Pastors Howard and Karen Russell officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Aurora. Friends may call at the funeral home, 10117 Route 90, Genoa, on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
