Kenyon - Aileen Mae Quaale (Amundson-Polikowsky), 84, died December 11, 2023 at New Perspective Senior Living, Faribault, MN. She was born December 24, 1938, to Alex and Margaret Amundson of Westby, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Westby and in 1956, she graduated from Westby High School. After high school she attended nursing school at Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing with a Registered Nursing degree. She was a surgical nurse at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN working in various departments. She also assisted with opening the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. On April 2, 1960, she married Marvin Polikowsky at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westby, WI. They lived on a dairy farm in rural Byron, MN. Marvin died on February 17, 1999. Aileen remarried Jim Quaale on July 24, 2000 and together they lived on a farm in Kenyon, MN. Aileen and Jim also spent time wintering in Arizona and traveling the country in their RV.
Aileen was an active member at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, MN and Gol Lutheran Church in Kenyon, MN. She was actively involved in Ladies groups and Choir at church. Aileen lived a very active life volunteering her time and efforts in numerous groups. She was a Founding member of the Mayo Clinics' Liver Transplant team. She was member of the state American Dairy Association in MN, a State and Local leader in 4-H, hosted numerous foreign exchange students in AFS, community leader for Byron Schools, coached her sons and daughter in many of their activities and volunteered for many charity groups. She enjoyed cooking, painting, and traveling. She always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, James Quaale of Kenyon, MN. Children Bruce Polikowsky, Brian (Alex) Polikowsky Brad (Kathy) Polikowsky and Amy (Dan) Mesenburg, all of Byron, MN. Loren (Deb) Quaale of Wanamingo, MN; Lon (Annette) Quaale of Kenyon, MN and Sherry (Mike) Moening of Lakeville, MN. Grandchildren Hannah, Eleanor, Laura, Robert, Emily, Marvin, Gabriela, Justin, Logan and Randi. Clint, Kyle, Britney, Zachary, Jerrad, Brent, Christine, Katherine, Paul, Grant, and JoAnn along with 12 Great Grandchildren. Brothers Alexander (Lynn) and Argyle (Susan).
She was preceded in death by her husband (Marvin), in addition to her parents (Alexander and Margaret) and her grandson (Samuel).
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on December 28, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, MN. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on December 27, 2023 at Michaelson Funeral Home in Kenyon, MN and one hour before the service at Christ Lutheran in Byron. Interment service will take place at Salem Township Cemetery.
