Debbie and I believe that our meeting with Susan was a Divine appointment. Within a few days after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans we were on our knees asking the Lord what we could do for the refugees. Immediately after the phone rang which eventually led us to contact Susan in Lafayette, who was staying at a retirement home with her Mother. A friend and I went to visit Susan to assess her needs.

Afterwards, Debbie and I invited her into our home. It was a real joy to have her as our guest and get to know her. She was fun, personable, kind and pleasant to be with. She would often talk about her sweet daughter Angela and was always concerned about her.

Eb nicknamed her "Bahama Mama." It just seemed to fit and it put a smile on her face.

Debbie recalls the times that she prayed with Susan and read a daily devotion together. Their favorite verse became to be Psalm 118:24: "This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Susan loved Jesus and professed to trust Him as her Savior.

... "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." John 11:25

Angela,
Aunt Susan will be missed. I have good memories of my grandma taking me to visit everyone on Perrin Dr. in Arabi each week. Aunt Susan was a fun aunt and had a great sense of humor. I still remember the Comet song she used to sing to me when I was young. God bless.

Angela, I am so sorry that you have lost your sweet mother. Aunt Susan was always such a gentle, kind woman. I had never seen her aggravated, irritated, or out of sorts ever! I surely wish you could have had another 20 years with her. I can sympathize, as so many of your cousins can, the sadness of losing parents way too soon. You and your Aunts will be in my prayers. If you ever need anything, just call. Love you Cuz!
