Mr. Cruz was the best teacher I´ve ever had, because he took the time to help a braces wearing, shy, teenage girl become the confident professional that I am now. Mr. Cruz knew you could do it, so you believed that you could do it. I won debates, gave speeches, won awards in one act play for 4 years in Drama and UIL ; when I left Eagle Pass High School, I knew I was going to make a difference with my life, my personality, and my education. Mr. Cruz knew I would . The Eddie Awards at the end of each year came to mean more to me and my troupe than UIL ; it´s what Mr. Cruz thought you were, not a bunch of judges. I´ll always treasure my friends from Drama and the awards, the trips, the prayers, the tears, the joy ! I loved high school because of Mr. Cruz and One Act Play . Thank you Mr. Cruz, I´ll always love you for the time you took change my life.
Most respectfully,
Tricia Adams LeSage, DDS, MS

Hello Friends and Family of Mr. Cruz —
I didn’t personally know “Eddie” although we are both theatre craftsmen. However, currently it’s my duty and privilege to help others remember and honor him. I’m a graphic designer working on the 2009 Texas Educational Theatre Association program guide. In the program, we memorialize theatre comrades who have passed away. You can view the 2007 “In Memoriam” page here:
http://www.slightlyoffcenterplayers.com/misc/teta/TheatreFest_InMemoriam2007.pdf
My access to photos of Eddie are limited and quality is minimal. Can and will you help me find one or more good, high resolution photos of him to ensure his “In Memoriam” appearance is of the highest quality?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Jeff Sensat

Mr. E. Cruz, was my speech teacher in Eagle Pass. He was also my favorite one. That was back in '82 and everytime I think of my high school years, he always comes to mind. Thank you Mr. Cruz, for believing in me. God keep you in his tender care and my deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

Mister Cruz was my favorite teacher I had at Med High (1996-2000). All my favorite memories of school are of attending his classes and participating in the various plays that were performed for the student body or for the One-Act competitions. I will miss him greatly.

What can I say about my uncle Eddie besides the fact that he touched so many many lives. I didn't spend time with him, but he was my moms best friend. A part of my mom is gone she will miss going to the games and shopping w/him. Thanks to everyone out there for your support and love.

In my high school yearbook of 1974, Eddie Cruz wrote,"if i had a little sister, I'd have her fashioned after you." Thank you, Mr. Cruz. That has always meant a lot to me. I know that you are now looking down on us from heaven. Peace be with you always. Patty Fisher

My condolences to the Cruz family, friends and students of Eddie. As I look at the high school annual, I remember Eddie as classmate a very bright and friendly young man who set high standards for himself and therefore, a very accomplished academian. May Eddie be rejoicing in the banquet of heaven and Kingdom of God.

My deepest condolences to the family of Eddie Cruz. Mr. Cruz was not only my favorite teacher, but a mentor in the truest sense of the word. I took every class he taught, and for four years, he led our class and our troop of actors to success in one act play, speech and debate. I know that everyone else who had him as a teacher felt the same way - he had that way of making you feel you were the most important, most talented person in the room. And it wasn't only his students... it was obvious that his fellow teachers and friends felt the same way about him. I am heartbroken knowing that he is gone. I fact, twenty six years after graduating from high school in Eagle Pass, still hardly a day goes by that I don't think of him and the days when we happily "ran though" our play again. We would have done anything for him. We loved him.

My memories of Eddie are such good ones. There was always a smile on his face and kindness we could count on. He was such a wonderful teacher to his students and such a great friend to those who knew him. While he taught at EEHS across the hall from me I never knew him to be unkind. "When we lose someone we love it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence... a quiet sadness... A longing for one more day... one more word... one more touch... We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. We will see you again some day, in a heavenly place where there is no parting. A place where there are no words that mean good-bye." My condolences are with his family and friends at this time.

How sad it is to hear that Eduardo has passed. I remember him with that constant smile and always a hello or hi.
Having been a classmate, I was always happy to see how bright and focus he was with his life. May the lord keep him in his glory and give his family courage and strenght in this very difficult time. Rest In Peace Eddie ... God be with you.

Mr. Cruz was a fantastic person as well as a wonderful teacher. I took drama for 3 years with him while I attending Med-High. He was always so proud of us and made sure he was present at our graduation in 2000. My deepest sympathies are with his family. Justice shall be served. God Bless him and his loving family.

I will always remember your dedication and even though I only had you as a one act play instructor i could tell that you were a person of great intelligence and immense kindness. I will never forget you because you helped me conquer my fear of the stage and you showed me that every little thing counts. You also had these visions of what you wanted and even though at times they were hard to envision they were always so great. Thank you Mr. Cruz.
