FRED GARZA Jr.

FRED GARZA JR. PHARR - Fred Garza, Jr., 89, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2015 at McAllen Heart Hospital. Born in San Benito, Texas, Mr. Garza is preceded in death by parents Federico Garza Sr. and Marcela Martinez Garza and Sons; Fred Garza III, and Carlos Garza. Fred Garza is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 60 years, Socorro Garza and his loving children; Elizabeth Garza, Arthur Fred Garza, Robert J. Garza, Janet (Jose Luis) Garcia, Jakkan Garza, Sisters; Belia, Amparo, Yolanda, Iris, and Irma, Brothers; Joe, Frank, Arnulfo, Carlos, Pepe, Wilfred, numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Fred never met a stranger, was always there to help and guide in any way possible. He started a very successful sign Company where he had many trusted customers throughout the Valley. He enjoyed playing golf 8 days a week with loving friends and especially spending loving times with family. He extremely loved spending time with his grandchildren. At a young age he joined the U.S. Navy, after that he joined the U.S. Army where he traveled to many different countries. While enlisted he was in the Korean War where he was captured and held prisoner (POW) for 33 months. He was released during the prisoners exchange in 1953. Many thanks to many Doctors and Caregivers who attended to him. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, January 15, 2014 beginning at 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church of McAllen. Burial will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen with VFW Post #8788 conducting full military honors. The Garza family entrusted their services to Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen.
