Hector Davila Obituary
McALLEN - Hector A. Davila, 67, passed away Wednesday February 11, 2009 at his residence in McAllen. He was born July 13, 1941 in Mendez, Tamaulipas Mexico to Genaro and Irma Davila. He was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather and dear friend who served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the Army after serving his country. He taught his children the value of work, education and moral values.
He was preceded in death by his father Genaro Davila. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Mary Davila; his son, David (Alma) Davila of Edinburg; daughter Denise (Danny) Villasana of San Antonio Texas; grandson Hiram Davila; mother Irma Davila; sister Estella ( Guadalupe+) Elizondo; brothers in-law, Jose (Rita) Castro, of Mission, Arturo+ (Guadalupe) Castro of Edinburg, Armando (Aidee) Castro of McAllen, Salvador (Gabby) Castro of Mission; sisters-in-law Janie (Oscar) Cortinas of Fort Worth, Tx., Cristela (Ismael) Villegas of Dallas TX., Maria de Jesus+ (Alfred) Lopez of Fort Worth TX, Leticia Castro+, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in McAllen, and was an active member of the McAllen Lodge No. 1110 AF&AM where he was a Past Master of the McAllen Lodge, District Deputy Grand Master, Past Texas Grand Lodge Representative to the Grand Lodge of Tamaulipas, he received the Golden Trowel Award, 33 Degree Mason: Scottish Rite Valley of San Antonio, Al Amin Shrine of Corpus Christi, TX and Grand Masters Symbolic Metal. Hector and his wife were the owners of El Compadre retail store in downtown McAllen and loved serving the community in a variety of civic organizations.
Serving as pallbearers will be his son David Davila, grandson Hiram Davila, son in-law Danny Villasana, brother in-laws, Jose, Armando and Salvador Castro along with his nephews Marc and Aaron Castro. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masonic McAllen Lodge No. 1110.
The family would like to give a special thanks to The V. A. clinic in McAllen, his doctors, Affectionate Home Health Care and all those who took special care of him during his illness. They would like to give a very special thank-you to Mrs. Yolanda Garcia (Yoli), for her love, dedication and long years of selfless service to the Davila family. Hector will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him dearly.
Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2009, from 1 to 6 p.m. with a rosary following at 7 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen located at 314 N. 10th t. A church service will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Kreidlerfuneralhome.com

I am thankful that I knew Hector, and will always remember him as a good man and an outstanding example of what a Mason should be. Time will not be fade the many fond memories I have of him. Truly, solemn strikes the funeral chime.

My condolences to Comadre Mary, Denise, and David. Words can not express the deep sorrow we have, on the passing of Compadre Hector. He will be truely missed. He was a wonderful person whom I had the pleasure of knowing all of my life. The Compadres have always been the greatest of friends and I Know my Mom and Dad (Delia And Frank) will miss him dearly. Mary & family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Hector was such a wonderful man and so very thoughtful. I remember growing up thinking he was one of my grandfathers brothers because they were so close and you all were always at family functions.
