So sad to learn of Jerry's passing. Having moved to Arizona thirteen years ago took me out of the loop. Jerry was a great coach and a great friend. On the track, on the CC trails, and our many MITCA meetings, Jerry's friendship was cherished. I apologized for the lateness of this condolence but I had to express my sincere fondness of your husband and father. God Bless.

Jerry, may you find rest this day in a warm setting where your loved ones will be remembering so many memories of spectacular times together . Your time here was a fabulous sharing of teaching and humor while "picking 'em up and laying them down". The experiences of walking and running in your path and integrity have now earned your biggest trophy of all. Peace be with you and your family as we all go back to be able to go forward. You will be dearly missed, but surely never forgotten as one of the best. And, finally , thank you for recognizing that I had more talent in the sport of running than getting beat up on a football field.

Jerry Mayer was just the most important teacher ,coach and mentor that graced my High School career. He was capable of motivating people by giving kids a strong desire to try to exceed their abilities. Thanks to his family for sharing him with all of us students. He impacted very many people in large and small ways every year he was involved with young people. I am very blessed he was part of my life. God Bless and love to all the Mayers.
