Patricia Wood Obituary

Wood, Patricia Ann; age 69; of Daytona Beach, FL formerly of Alma; passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL. She was born November 14, 1944 in Midland the daughter of Frank and Irene (Howe) LaMee. She married James Wood on December 4, 1982 at the Midland First United Methodist Church. Patty graduated from Midland High School and went on to attend Michigan State University and earned her RN Degree from St. Lawrence Nursing College in Detroit. She interned at the Midland Hospital and later worked as the Operating Room Supervisor at Central Michigan Community Hospital. She also worked for Dr. Veldhuis in Mt. Pleasant and retired as the Office Manager for Dr. Dean in Mt. Pleasant after over 20 years of service. Patty was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Midland. She was active in the Alma Elks Lodge #1400 and the Alma Highland Festival. She enjoyed camping with her family at School Section Lake, bowling and golfing. Patty is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jim of Daytona Beach, FL; three children, Kristi (Jeff Young) O’Boyle of Alma, Pam (Mike Bebow) Harger of Houghton Lake, John (Beth) Bendon of Vestaburg; three step-children, Scott (Julie) Wood of Alma, Tim (Rene) Wood of Oregon, Jeff (Lynn) Wood of Alma; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Nancy (Ralph) Palmer of Midland. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11 a.m at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma with Pastor George Showers. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL. Patty was a life long friend. We were neighbors and friends since before grade school. She was like a sister to me. I was sad to hear of her death but I have many good memories to cherish. My thoughts go out to Jim and her children and their families. Nancy you are in my thoughts as well.
