Ruth McMichael Obituary
Ruston, LA - Memorial services for Ruth Burkhalter McMichael, born July 23, 1918, died October 22, 2017 will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Burkhalter Chapel Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Rev. Rolly Walker will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 PM until time for the service.
Mrs. McMichael was preceded in death by her husband, A.I. McMichael (Mac), her parents Lucy and Milo Burkhalter of Gibsland, LA; brothers Dondy, William, Orum, and Roland; sisters Gayle Burkhalter, Elizabeth Howard, Glennie Shearer, Leslie McBride, and Genevieve Rogers. Survivors are two sons and a daughter, Dick McMichael (Vicki) St. Louis, MO; Amy Waggener (Gary) Hot Springs Village, AR; and Cliff McMichael (Faye), Choudrant, LA. Grandchildren Joshua, Amanda, and Rebecca McMichael, St. Louis, MO; Colby Waggener (Alison) and great grandson Wyatt Waggener, Little Rock, AR; step-grandchildren Tammy McCall (Sean), Vicky Weaver (Brian), Ricky Watley (Sarah), Scotty Watley (Elizabeth) and eight step-great grandchildren.
The things we remember most about our mother are her faith in God and the power of prayer, her love of family and friends, her gift of hospitality, her pecan and buttermilk pies, mayhaw jelly, buttered rolls and pizzelles. She loved going to Council on Aging and playing bridge. She had a smile and kindness for everyone. She will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the Arbor and Terrace staff and Compassus Hospice for the loving care they gave our mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, The Methodist Children's Home, or the charity of one's choice.

Ruth was truly a saint and a wonderful presence. There was always a grand smile with which to greet friends. Her long life was a blessing to many. We were fortunate to know many of her siblings and they also were very fine people. We will miss her. Love, Claudine & Jon Barker
