THOMAS SPENCER Obituary

A memorial service for Thomas Warwick Spencer, Jr., 63, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 14, 2010, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating.
Mr. Spencer gently passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born in 1946, Alexandria, VA, to Thomas W. Spencer, Sr. and Lois Johnson Spencer. After graduating from Wakefield High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving in West Berlin, Germany, and the Vietnam War. Mr. Spencer graduated cum laude from Northeast Louisiana University with a bachelor degree in History/Government and was a member of the honorary history fraternity Phi Kappa Phi. He retired from Ellington Construction Co.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Katherine Ellington Spencer; sons, Jake Spencer and wife Erika, and Jess Spencer and fiancée Heather Ward, all of West Monroe; grandsons, Curry Spencer, Cam Spencer, Cason Spencer, and Myles Spencer, all of West Monroe; sister, Inez Spencer Buchanan of Springfield, VA; nephews, Harold Buchanan of Las Vegas, NV, and Kurt Buchanan of Front Royal, VA; father-in-law, Robert Ellington, Jr. of Monroe; brothers-in-law, Patrick Ellington and Robert Ellington III, both of Monroe; sisters-in-law, Susan Ellington of Benton, LA and Julie Turner of Peachtree City, GA; niece Morgan Cole of Ocala, FL; special friend, Vallie Jackson of Monroe, LA; and many nieces and nephews. Tom Spencer was a treasure to his family and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
