Jimmy Cash Obituary
A son of the late John and Mamie Whitehead Cash, he was born February 19, 1939, in Stephens County, Georgia, having lived in Mt. Airy for the last 15 years. He was employed with the Norfolk Southern Railroad having retired with 25 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed being outside. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Whitehead Cash; three brothers, Joe, J.B. and Jack Cash; and three sisters, Patsy Chatham, Jean McCollum, and Jeanette Pritchett.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ann Floyd Cash of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Simmons of Mt. Airy; four granddaughters, Chasity Simmons, April Simmons, Amber Simmons, Tiffany Jill Fields and her husband, Chad, all of Mt. Airy; two great-grandsons, Maverick Guy Fields and Cash Eli Fields; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Linda Cash of Toccoa; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with his pastor, The Reverend Chad Watson officiating. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Michael Simmons, Chad Fields, Charles "Bud" Jarrett, Ray LeCroy, Bo Barrett and Bo Sharretts.
The family will received friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 2 p.m. until the service time. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment was in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory entrusted to serve the family of Mr. Jimmy Cash.
