Timothy "Tim" James Bedford was born on July 16, 1971, in
Rochester, Michigan and left this world on December 17, 2021, in
Eagle River, Alaska, succumbing to mental illness.
Tim was diagnosed with Bipolar and showed great strength and courage, fighting for the loves of his life, wife Crystal and son Grant, while receiving treatment; dreaming of the day when there would be a cure.
Tim lived a full life despite his illness. He was a hard and dedicated worker from his job bagging groceries at Atlas in
Pontiac, Michigan to his time at FedEx, which was his favorite job. Tim went on to own and operate a tile installation business, where he was highly skilled.
Tim enjoyed traveling, history, outdoor activities (hiking and camping), and was a Lego enthusiast since childhood. Tim also had a great love of movies that he shared with his son, who now has a love of movies to this day. Tim was very intelligent, organized, knew how to find a deal and was amazing at planning trips. Tim and Crystal were world travelers; exploring the Middle East, Haiti, and visiting Gettysburg and Washington D.C. during their honeymoon with Grant by their side. Eventually, Tim and Crystal decided to make Alaska their home.
Tim was kind, loyal and honest to a fault. He loved to talk with almost everyone he met, a trait he learned from his dad, Fred, who also had a boisterous laugh. Tim loved to play jokes on others but always with kindness and respect in mind. His kindness went out to so many, including anyone stranded on the side of the road. Tim had many great attributes that he could not always see in himself.
Tim is preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Wegmann, grandparents Thomas and Betty Adcock, grandparents-in-law Emory and Doris Plummer and his special grandparents and friends, Verner and Barbara Barnes.
Tim is survived by his wife Crystal Bedford, son Grant Bedford, Mother Linda Wegmann, niece Jacqueline Melbardis-Cruse (Aaron); father-in-law James Shaw; mother-in-law Nancy Shaw, sister-in-law Kimberly Brines; brother-in-law's Sean Brines and James Shaw; niece and nephew, Julia and Evan and special friends Jill Barnes and Judy Fandale.
A memorial to celebrate Tim's life will be held on his birthday, July 16, 2022, at the Gazebo in the Children's Park, downtown Lake Orion, Michigan at 12:30 p.m. Tim was a fan of the Detroit Tigers. In his honor, please dress in Tigers colors or apparel and share your favorite story of our most cherished and loved Tim.
