I'll never forget how he used to wrestle with Gary Z on the mat. He was great. And the way his Mom used to cheer him on in wrestling..amazing. And beating the "Animal" from Battle Ground at State. He was my hero. Rest in Peace Phil. Sincerest sympathy to your family.

Phillip, Dan Godat, and I along with David Enright from Camas lived together Fall Quarter, Olympic College, 1966. Phillip would read his Bible and pray every morning before going to class. It was so strange to me. I'm sure his prayers are part of the reason I met Jesus in 1971 and have my daily prayer and Bible study! Thanks, Phillip. See you on the other side.

Sincerest condolences to Karen and family in Phil's passing. I first knew Phil as Mark's little brother but what a mountain of an athlete and man he became. One of the nicest persons I've ever known; humble, caring, and devoted to family.

Phil, was a Man among men. A gentleman except on the football field or wrestling mat. Everyone will miss YOU!

Phil was one of the best in all ways. When I heard the news about Phil's passing it hit me like a brick in the middle of my chest. He was a great guy. I am so glad I knew him for a part of my life.

Phil was one of the most memorable people that I have ever met. I grew up with him and got to know him in a very personal way. We grew up together in every way: school, socially, wrestling, football and, ultimately, as men. He was not only the strongest man physically that I ever knew, he was also one of the strongest spiritually. Truly a wonderful guy and a man of God. He will be sorely missed by many people. So terribly sorry to hear of his passing. I will keep you in my prayers.
