BERTHA STEELE Obituary
Bertha was born on July 23, 1943, in West Decatur, a daughter of the late Homer R. and Helen R. (Fleck) Steele.
Early in her working career, Bertha moved to Hightstown, N.J. and accepted a position as an assembler with Triboro Electric. She remained with the company for about 24 years until a disability required her retirement in 1989.
Bertha is survived by a daughter, Bonnie L. Steele, of Roebling, N.J.; three grandchildren, Jessica Weaver of Florida, Jennifer Keister and her husband Mark of Burlington, N.J. and Josh Weaver of Hamilton, N.J.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion E. Wilks and her husband John of Port Matilda and Jane A. Wilson and her husband, the Rev. Jodie Wilson of State College; and numerous other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Homer R. Steele, Jr. and Charles R. Steele, in addition to her parents.
Among her favorite pastimes, Bertha enjoyed making crafts that included glass beaded bracelets, Christmas ornaments and ceramic items. She also enjoyed playing bingo.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Jodie Wilson, brother-in-law of the deceased, officiating.
A visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be at Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bertha's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
