MSgt John P. Williams, 95, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, at North Bay Hospital in Fairfield. John was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Nov. 29, 1919. He served in the United States Air Force for 23 years and retired honorably in 1971. John received many commendations during his many years of service. He enjoyed giving back to his community and fellow veterans by volunteering for the Red Cross and serving as a member of the Disabled American Veterans. As part of the DAV, John was in charge of the "Forget Me Not Drive" for 25 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Suarez Williams; twin sister, Sarah Harris; and brother, David Williams.

John is survived by his wife of 33 years, Eliza Williams; his daughter, Lisa A. Murphy of Fairfield; his step-children, John J. Martin of California, Shirley Kukich of Virginia, Richard A. Martin of Arkansas and Madeline Martin of Arkansas; his brother, James Williams of California; sister, Dolly Traficanti of California; his 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

John will be greatly missed by all who knew him but find comfort in knowing he is now singing with angels.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2700 Dover Ave., Fairfield. The burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon. Reception will take place at the Country Club Estates, 1800 East Tabor Ave., Fairfield.
