Toni DeBardeleben Obituary

Toni passed away December 20, 2022 with family by her side after a long battle with lung cancer. Toni was born in Long Beach, California on June 28, 1943. She graduated from Vacaville High School in 1961. After graduating from high school, she moved to San Francisco and enrolled in an IBM school for keypunch operators, now probably equivalent to coders. She married in 1966 and traveled to many different countries with her husband's job in the liquor industry. After taking some years off work to travel, she returned to the workforce in the property management sector for over 25 years. Toni was a beloved daughter to the late Alex and Helen Maier of Vacaville. Toni is survived by her sister, Stanlee Garriott, "the middle child," brother, Bruce, "the baby," and his wife, Becky. Toni was a loving aunt to Mike and Lisa Nevin, Mark and Vicki Brunworth, Nathan and Amber Maier, Derrick and Nickie Jordan, Daniel and Noelle Neff. She was the great aunt to Alex and Luke Brunworth; Jake and Jack Nevin, Lucas, Logan, and Addison Maier; Macie Holland; Zeke, Levi and Caleb Jordan, and Audrey Neff. She was fondly known as the snack lady. Whether she was the host or a guest, nobody loved a party more than Toni. She was funny, a generous gift giver, and an extraordinary storyteller who had the gift of accents from any country region, or dialect. This made every story, whether exaggerated, elongated, or animated, so much more entertaining. Toni could never just sign her name to a card. We all treasured her extremely thoughtful, creative, and funny cards that she wrote for every occasion. She added original poems or anecdotes: "Pears to Share," "Sharing and Caring," and "Bears will kill you." At times some were so obscure they had to be explained, but all were cherished. Toni loved her scotch! It was a joke that it was never served the way she liked it… Short glass, filled to the top with ice, shot of scotch, topped off with water. It might sound like scotch and water, but it was never made correctly and confused wait staff, and bartenders for over 30 years. After Toni ordered her scotch and water, we all waited with bated breath as to what it may look like. There will be a short graveside service at the Vacaville Elmira Cemetery at 5220 Elmira Rd., Vacaville on Friday, June 23 at 10 AM. This will be followed by a celebration of life at the Vacaville opera house, 560 Main St., Vacaville, from 11 AM to 2 PM. Please join us.

Toni made the best tuna casserole ever and I will never forget how generous she was with her recipe and instructions to a 19 year old who was just begining to learn how to cook. Rest in peace sweet lady
