Blanche Long Obituary

BLAIRSVILLE - Blanche D. Long, 76, of Blairsville, formerly of Ava, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Blairsville.

Mrs. Long was a retired forklift operator with Olin Industries.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She was born May 30, 1931, in De Soto, to Thomas Ezkiel and Eulah Dee (Cross) Bailey.

Blanche was united in marriage with Wayne D. Long on Aug. 30, 1978, in Marion. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2007.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Paula McNichols of Pittsburg, Marilyn and David Seidenstricker of Pittsburg and Kathy and Victor Fann of Blairsville; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Regina Bailey of Murphysboro and the Rev. Thomas and Joyce Bailey of De Soto; sister, Betty Prowell of Elkville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Earl Gulley and John Odell Gulley; daughter, Earline D. Young; and a sister, Wynema Reese.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Greg Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
