Elaine Eigenmann Obituary

MARION -- Elaine (McClanahan) Davis Eigenmann, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 4:42 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at home.

She was born Monday, June 7, 1943, in Marion, the daughter of Wayne Allen and Juanita (Roberts) McClanahan.

Elaine was first married to Jerry L. Davis on Sept. 28, 1959, in Paducah, and to this union they were blessed with four children, Glenn Al-len, Laurie, Debbie, and Danny. She later was united in marriage to Philip A. Eigenmann on Sept. 11, 1993 in Marion and together they shared 13 years of marriage until his death May 25, 2007.

Her working career for many years was as an office manager for Southern Illinois Builders Association until her retirement. After her retirement, she decided to open her own business, Double E Advertising Company.

Her church membership was with Community of Faith of Marion. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, feed-ing and watching the birds, especially hummingbirds, and writing. She was known for writing special poems for her family on their birthdays. She loved her family very much, always taking interest in their many different activities. She enjoyed the many times they would all gather together. Now the many memories that were created will be cherished by all those she now leaves behind.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Rick Chapman and Debbie and Philip Abbott, all of Marion; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Julie Davis of Marion; eight grandchildren, Joshua Chapman of Florissant, Mo., Caleb Chapman and wife, Alicia, of Marion, Daniel Chapman, serving in the United States Air Force and currently stationed in Germany and his wife, Emily, Jacob Abbott, Steven Abbott and his wife, Megan, Luke Abbott, Julian Davis and Chancellor Davis, all of Marion; two great-granddaughters, Brylee and Kylee Chapman, both of Marion; brother-in-law, Kenneth Davis of Garland, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Linda Rice and hus-band, Junior, of Centralia and Lois Propes and husband, Roger, of Marion; other extended family, Philip Eigenmann his wife, Melissa, and children Philip and Emily of Frisco, Texas, Lynne Eigenmann of Huntsville, Ala. and daughter, Melissa Roberts Precise, of Birmingham, Ala., and Sara Taylor and her husband, Tom, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Glenn Allen Davis who passed away in infancy; and her sister, Velita Davie.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, in Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion, with the Rev. Dave Maragni presiding. Interment will be next to her husband, Philip, in Rose Hill Cemetery of Marion.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to either The Arthritis Foundation or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or mailed c/o Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959.
