Eldon McKinley Obituary
DECATUR - Eldon Wayne McKinley, 85, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at his residence.
He was born on Monday, September 2, 1929 in Muncie, Indiana the son of the late Rev. Leo McKinley and the late Mary Olive (Orr) McKinley. He married Dixie Gulley on June 18, 1950 in St. Paul Methodist Church in Fort Wayne.
He served in the United States Army 412th Finance Reserves from 1948 to 1960.
Eldon attended Decatur Church of God. He served on the Board of Directors at First Federal Savings and Loan in Huntington for ten years; Board of Directors for Indiana Credit Men's Association for twelve years where he served as Indiana State President; and Board of Directors for Emily Flinn Home in Marion, Indiana for six years. He was a fifty year member of the F. & A.M. Delaware Lodge #46 where he served as Past Worshipful Master. He was a former member of Indiana Lumbermen's Association; Delaware Kiwanis Club; Huntington Rotary Club; Gideons; Huntington Shrine Club; Florida Packard Club; Sunshine Region AACA Classic Cars; and Rare Birds Classic Cars of Florida.
Eldon retired as owner and operator of Huntington Lumber in 1986. Prior to that, he was part owner and manager at Delaware County Lumber in Muncie, Indiana. In his retirement, he was a driver for Courtesy Motors in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Dixie McKinley of Decatur; daughter, Linda (Jim) Licht of Gaston, IN, daughter, Terri (Bob) Adams of Decatur; sister, Marilyn Adkins of Northport , FL; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and seven step great-grandchildren.
Preceding Eldon in death were a daughter, Beth Ann Wuellner; a granddaughter, Courtney Wuellner; and a son-in-law, Jim Alley.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Decatur Church of God; Shriners Hospitals for Children; or Multiple Sclerosis Society.
