Gail Miller Obituary

Gail Elaine Dalrymple Miller
November 7, 2022
Columbia, South Carolina - Gail Elaine Dalrymple Miller, 75, devoted wife, beloved mother, loving grandmother, fabulous sister, and dear friend to many, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2022, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family. She was born and raised in Mt. Croghan and Chesterfield, SC.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Al Miller; sons, Erik Miller (Anna) of Chapin, SC and Brian Miller (Tasha) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Kate Miller of Chapin, SC; Tyler Till (Davis) of Orangeburg, SC; Tilly Christian (Logan) of Vidalia, GA; and Brycen and Braylie Miller of Lexington, SC; sisters, Delores Dalrymple Gulledge (Van) of Irmo, SC; Belinda Dalrymple Woods (Nelson) of Fort Mill, SC; and Jenny Dalrymple (Jan Baker) of Blythewood, SC; nieces, nephews, Mark Miller, Dr. Christopher Gulledge (Alyssa), Angie Urbania (Mark), Kipp Woods (Katie), and numerous extended family members whom she also loved and cherished. Gail was excitedly anticipating the birth of her first great grandchild due in February 2023.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Margaret Lucille Hendricks Dalrymple and J. H. Clovis Dalrymple, as well as her niece, Melanie Delores Gulledge.
She graduated from Pageland High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop University, and earned a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina. She retired from Lexington – Richland School District Five after 30 years as a learning disabilities resource teacher.
She was a long-time active member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church. She was a member of the Serving Our Savior Life Group (Sunday School Class) and the adult choir. She enjoyed working with children's choirs, working with Vacation Bible School, and learning and incorporating sign language into music ministries. Gail made sign language look like an art form, as she was so graceful and had so much faith and love to share. She loved her family and cherished time with immediate and extended family.
Gail loved the color yellow, small green frogs, yellow butterflies, line dancing, spending time at Litchfield, and Lake Murray boat rides on her boat, "Miss Elaine." She enjoyed attending any kind of activity in which her children or grandchildren were involved. She enjoyed and excelled at organizing family gatherings. Her jello salad rivaled that of her mother's, and her homemade pepper jelly remains a family favorite. She was deeply intellectual, spiritual, musical, and whimsical, and all who had the good fortune to spend time with her in this life are better for it.
A celebration of life service will be held at Riverland Hills Baptist Church on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the Traditional Worship Center. A private family burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends memorials be made to the Riverland Hills Baptist Church Beyond Us Building Fund or to the Riverland Hills Baptist Church Music Budget at 201 Lake Murray Blvd, Irmo, SC 29063.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care extended by the entire staff of Lexington Medical Center.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family. Memories may be shared at www.dunbarfunerals.com.
