Gerald Reeve Obituary

Gerald Ethan Reeve RESTON, VA. - "Gerry" (Age 67) passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, at his home in Reston, VA, with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 29, 1945, in Mount Holly, NJ, and was raised in Aschaffenburg, Germany, and Spartanburg, SC. After graduating from Wofford College, with a B.S. in mathematics, Gerry enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Ray Barracks in Friedberg, Germany, earning the rank of first lieutenant. He then returned to the United States, and began a long career as an industrial engineer in the textile industry in Spartanburg. His career then took him to Danville, VA, and eventually to Elon, NC, where he lived for many years. Later he moved to Westerly, RI. He loved living near the beach and taking drives on the weekend around New England. After retiring from the textile industry, Gerry moved back to South Carolina and eventually settled in Columbia. While living in South Carolina, he was able to indulge in more of his passions. He was a voracious reader, an avid runner, loved watching baseball, and most importantly, was a doting father to his companion, Toocas, a miniature poodle. Eventually, as his health declined, Gerry moved to Reston, VA, to live with his daughter and future son-in-law where he received treatment at the V.A. Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He had tremendous respect for all of the staff in the Oncology unit, and would not have wanted his care in anyone else's hands. Gerry is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Timothy Myers of Reston, VA, son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Rebecca Reeve of Hamden, CT, four grandchildren, Eliana, Samantha, Liam and Audrey, and his first wife, Baerbel Monika (Wittmann) Dreslin, mother of their children. He is also survived by his sister, Pam (Reeve) Boulware, and brothers, Brian Reeve and Laurence Reeve. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave, Vienna, VA 22180. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Providence Hospital, 2749 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29204.

Grew up on the same street as Gerry. Our lives were similar in many ways. A real loss for all of us who knew him.

To all of Gerry's family,I am sorry to hear of your loss, and pray for comfort during this time. While I only knew Gerry a couple of years before he retired, I throughly enjoyed talking with him and listening to his stories. He was so intelligent I just enjoyed sitting and listening to him talk. He was a good man. Rest in peace Gerry

Gerry
As I knew him lived right up the street from me and we were good friends growing up. Lost touch with him after college. So sorry to hear about his passing. He was a good person and good friend.
