Robert "Bobby" Louis Soulier, born on October 18, 1940, passed away on February 6, 2024, at the age of 83. Bobby was born and raised in the Bayfield area and was a proud member of the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. He graduated from Bayfield High School in 1959, where he was known as an excellent basketball player in his youth.
After high school, Bobby enlisted in the US Army and served for several years, stationed in Germany. Upon returning, he was a certified welder, a skill he utilized throughout his career. Bobby worked in the shipyards on Lake Superior and later in Manitowoc, WI, where he met his beloved wife, Rose. Following his retirement, Bobby and Rose moved to Smithfield, Virginia, where they lived for the remainder of his life.
Bobby had a passion for NASCAR, casinos, trips to Nothern Wisconsin for hunting and visiting friends and family. He also enjoyed a Spotted Cow craft beer from time to time.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth Soulier, his brother Thomas Soulier, sisters in-law Pat and Virginia, and brother in law Gary. He is survived by his wife, Rose Soulier, his stepdaughter Sherry Swindells (Ty), and his grandson Dakota. He is also survived by his brothers, William "Billy" Soulier (Missy), Dennis Soulier (Virginia), Douglas Boutin (Chris), and his sister, Laurene "Sue" Taylor (Gary). Additionally, Bobby leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his best friend and hunting buddy, Kevin Smith.
Interment and a remembrance gathering will be shared with his brother Tommy and Tommy's wife Pat, who have also unfortunately passed away. Interment will take place at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin, on July 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm. A remembrance gathering will be held at Legendary Waters Casino in Red Cliff, WI, on July 20, 2024, at 11:00 am.
Bobby will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
