Rudolph Gaines Obituary

Rudolph Gaines
October 6, 1944 - August 24, 2021
Blythewood, South Carolina - Funeral services for Mr. Rudolph Gaines will be held Saturday 1:00 p.m. at the Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel with burial to follow in the Memorial Gardens of Columbia. Public viewing will be held Friday from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Gaines was a prolific builder and was in the building trade for over 40 years. He studied at Albany State University and graduated from Monroe Area Technical School. His devotion to duty and hard work took his from a grocery delivery boy at 13 years old to Superintendent for one of the largest builders in South Carolina. He was responsible for some of the major buildings that make up the skylines of many cities in South and North Carolina, including the gigantic Roche Manufacturing plant in Florence, S.C. which took several years to complete. Another of his signature skyscrapers was the Bank of America headquarters building in Charlotte, North Carolina. This building is 60 stories high and is the tallest building in North Carolina.
Mr. Gaines is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eloise Eddy Gaines; four children, Angela (Wesley) Michelle, Kinardi (Pierre) and Roderick (Jessica); five grandchildren, one god-daughter, eight siblings and a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived his life with commitment, devotion to family, love of humanity and quiet dignity.
