Walter Gutman Obituary

Walter Gutman COLUMBIA - Walter Gutman. November 22, 1930 to December 19, 2018. Walt left us to fly to higher heights and touch the face of God. He served with distinction in the United States Air Force for twenty years. Followed by a second career as Assessor for Sumter County. Left behind to honor his memory are his wife, Margaret; children, Paul, Donna and Annette; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He treasured his family, friends and country. Walt's wife and children would like to thank the many facilities of the Columbia VA Medical Center for their loving care of our warrior. The service to honor Mr. Gutman will be held 1 P.M. Friday, January 11th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial with military honors will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family requests no flowers.

I have fond memories of Mr. Gutman through Dorn VAMC as one of his audiologists and through Ft. Jackson as a fellow golfer. Always such a pleasant man. He will be missed. Thoughts and prayers for his family during this difficult time. Dr. Leadbitter
