Manuel R Lopes

Manuel R. Lopes, known by family and friends as Manny, passed away at age 92 of natural causes on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his Attleboro home surrounded by his wife and children.

Manny was the son of the late Mariano and Maria (Rodrigues) Lopes who had immigrated from São Miguel of Portugal before his birth in the United States.

He had a successful career where he worked for over 40 years at Metals and Control which later became Texas Instruments in Attleboro. Prior to retirement he served in an engineering capacity responsible for testing of motor control products where he had even developed a UL recognized patent for test equipment.

He was a devoted husband and father and got the most pleasure from being with his family, both immediate and extended. He loved playing the guitar and he was gifted with special musical ability. Country music was his favorite. He also had a bright warm smile and personality that allowed him to make many friends over the years.

Manny is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 71 years, Beulah and their five children, a son; Manny Lopes and his wife Justine of Northborough, MA; a daughter, Judy of Attleboro, MA; a son, Michael Lopes of Mansfield, MA; a daughter, Karen Mondillo and her husband Greg of Belle Fourche, SD; and daughter, Valerie Lopes of North Attleboro, MA; two grandchildren, Justin Lopes of Kauai, HI and Jessica Carmichael of Belle Fourche, SD; two great grandchildren Cory and Aeliana Carmichael all of Belle Fourche, SD and a sister, Olympia Martiesian of NM.
He was the brother the late Joseph Lopez, Mariano Lopes, Mary Goff and Irene Brown.

Friends and family are cordially invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, December 22, 2022, regardless of weather,
starting at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA. Burial will follow at the Stevens Corner Cemetery, Rehoboth, MA.
