Anthony Joseph Jackowski, a lifetime resident of Scranton, sadly left us on Feb. 9, 2024 comforted and cared for by his family at home. Preceding him in death was his loving and devoted wife Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Williams Daquino Jackowski, who passed away in 2021. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who was always willing to help his family and friends.
He graduated from Wilkes University as an accountant while working at Topps Chewing Gum Co., Duryea for 30 years. Anthony then retired from International Salt Co., Clarks Summit.
Surviving are his four daughters, Linda Daquino Saniski, Debbie D'Aquino, Patricia Daquino, Ruth Ann Daquino Palmitessa and husband Michael; four grandchildren, Melissa Kjaer and husband Jens, Sean Merrigan and wife Lara, Michael Olek and wife June, and Andrew Saniski and significant other Lizz Cardona; four great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Charlotte Merrigan, as well as Vitaly and Michael J. Olek; brother-in-law, Robert Williams and wife Patricia; sisters, Stella Halfpenny, Joanna Evans and husband Al; brothers, Frank and wife Jeannie and Paul; as well as several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Stella Szymborski Jackowski; a brother, John M. Jackowski; as well a daughter, Wendy Daquino Olek and a son-in-law, Ambrose Saniski.
Anthony's family would like to extend a special and most appreciated thank-you to Dr. Dodge and the professionals at Residential Home Hospice.
Family and friends may call Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home, 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, Pa., with a service at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Bill Brodbeck. Interment will be at Washburn Street Cemetery with Tony resting next to his LOVE Betty. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to Bethania Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1301 S. Main St., Scranton, PA.
