Delores Levine Obituary

Delores Levine, 86, of Carbondale, died Saturday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Levine. They would have celebrated 66 years of marriage this May.

Born Jan. 13, 1936, in Mayfield, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Nester Romanyshyn. Dolly was a caregiver her entire life to not only her family, but the community where she retired from the maternity floor and pharmacy at the Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Her life was her family and taking care of her home where she enjoyed planting flowers every year, cooking her famous matzo ball soup and Italian biscuits and having holidays spent with her family.

She and her husband always put others before themselves and never missed an activity or sporting event for their grandchildren no matter how far they needed to travel. They received an award at a banquet recognizing their true support to their grandchildren and their teams.

Her passing leaves a giant void in her family and their hearts. She will also be missed by her dogs, Barkley and Zsa Zsa.

Her family wishes to thank the doctors and staffs of the emergency room and fourth floor of the Moses Taylor Hospital, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dr. Matthew Haley, Dr. Kristine Kelley and Dr. Padmaja Bojanapally for all of their compassionate care to Dolly.

She is also survived by two daughters, Nancy Washeleski, Carbondale; and Carol Torch and husband, Andy, Carbondale; a son, Steven Levine, Allentown, N.J.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Washeleski and fiancée, Bethany Flowers, West Chester; Andrew Torch and wife, Sarah, Mountville; Michael Torch, Carbondale; and Alyssa Mosolino and husband, Phil, Carbondale; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Torch and Rory Mosolino; and a sister, Jean Dzwonczyk.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and John Romanyshyn; four sisters, Mary Setta, Annie Motacki, Helene Brown and Lillian Stout; and a son-in-law, Joe Washeleski.

A Requiem service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 706 Hill St., Mayfield, celebrated by the Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest John Sorochka, pastor. Interment, St. John's Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Mayfield.

A viewing will be held Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are under the care of the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Carbondale. To share condolences and photos with Delores's family, visit her book of everlasting memories at www.parisefuneralhome.com.

To all of the Levine family,

I just found out about aunt Dolly. Our hearts and prayers go out to all the family, I miss my parents every day. I remember aunt Dolly as being a kind and sweet person. Unfortunately everything comes to an end as we get older. I always fondly remember those great family holiday dinners at their home. I feel very bad that we didn´t continue to remain as close in later years. I will never forget aunt Dolly, and she will remain in all of our prayers. May she rest in piece.

God bless all of you
