Eileen Karnis Obituary

Eileen (Gig-Gee) Karnis, 58, a longtime resident of Moosic, died Feb. 17 in Marco Island, Fla., while vacationing with her family.

Born in Scranton on Aug. 12, 1955, daughter of the late David and Ann Marie Connor Brown, Eileen was a graduate of Riverside High School. She began her career as a preschool teacher, where she acted as a mother figure to countless children. She most recently worked as a certified nurse's aide for River Run Nursing Home in Kingston, where her co-workers and patients meant the world to her.

Throughout her life, Eileen had touched many lives. Her selfless, humble and generous nature will be her legacy left behind. A loving mother, sister, aunt, friend and especially grandmother, she adored her two grandchildren, Cole and Paige, taking an active role in all aspects of their lives. Undoubtedly loved by all who knew her, she will be forever missed.

She is survived by her adoring children, Kris Karnis, Moosic; and Melissa Dymek and husband, Brian, Spring Brook Twp.; her siblings, Mike Brown and wife, Diane, Florida; and Sharon Yackobowitz and husband, John, Taylor; brothers-in-law, Scott Rosser, Moosic; Lee Rosser, Dupont; Mark Felkowski, Old Forge; and John Tomasetti, Florida; sisters-in-law, Michaelene Felkowski, Old Forge; Mary Lou Tomasetti, Florida; and Karen Sulz, Scranton; many nieces and nephews; and her true inspiration and adoration in life, her grandchildren, Cole and Paige.

Also preceding her in death were her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Lou and Harold Rosser.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, to be celebrated by the Rev. Phillip J. Sladicka, pastor. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
