Gretchen S. Martin, 91, of Peckville, died Saturday at home. She was the wife of the late Leslie R. Martin, who died Nov. 4, 2021.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Vockroth Searfoss, she was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna Valley, Peckville. She was a graduate of Central High School, Scranton, Keystone College and Moses Taylor Hospital School of Technology. Prior to retirement, she and her husband owned and operated Martins Pharmacy in Peckville.
Surviving are a son, Keith Martin, Throop; two grandsons, Daniel Martin, Silver Spring, Md.; and Benjamin Martin and wife, Jen, Harrisburg.
She was preceded in death by a son, James Martin; and a brother, Paul Searfoss.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church of Lackawanna Valley, 1557 Main St., Peckville, with services by Pastor Lori Loughney. Interment to follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly.
Friends may call Thursday, 6 to 7 p.m., at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. All those attending the service are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral.

I was the Martins care giver she and her husband were like my grandparents they are truly missed

I remember Gretchen from when she used to babysit my sister, brother and me. She was a nice person. Of course that was many years ago. We lived right down the street from where she grew up. Sorry for your loss.
