June E. Green

June E. Green, 87, of Scranton, passed peacefully Friday at her home in Scranton. She was the widow of George William Green, who passed away in 1980. They were married for 29 wonderful years. George was the love of her life. She missed him every day, and now they are reunited once again for eternity.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Casper Huber and Mary Jane Griffiths Huber, she was a graduate of West Scranton High School, and earned an associate degree from Temple University. Before retiring to focus her efforts on raising a family, she was employed as a dental hygienist for Dr. McWilliams. She was a member of the Scranton Prep Parents Club and the Cymdeithas Society.

June was committed to her faith, and was a very active member of the United Baptist Church and its Women's Society. She was also involved in the St. Catherine's Resident Association, and formed many new friendships during her last two years of residence there. June also traveled the world extensively, and loved playing cards with her friends and family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed. Her days were spent devoted to her family and making the world a better place. Anyone who spent time with her knew her to be a remarkable woman.

Surviving are her two daughters, Carolee Green Vieira and her husband, Frank, Scranton; and Tammie Green Harris and her husband, Dr. Michael Harris, Kingston: three grandchildren, Mia Vieira and her fiancé, Freddie Mixell; Nicholas Vieira and Jacob Harris; a great-grandchild, Eden Ari George Vieira; two stepgrandchildren, Rebecca Genevich and Franko Vieira; two sisters, Dorothy Murphy, Scranton; and Margie Shuba and husband, Joseph, Binghamton, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Terri Huber, Moscow; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

June was also preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Albert, Robert, Walter and Sonny Huber; and five sisters, Mildred Thomas, Ruth O'Dell, Elizabeth Maline, Marion Heusner and Eleanor Thomas.

The Viewing will be held at Davies and Jones Funeral Home today from 4 to 7 p.m., 135 S. Main Ave., Scranton, Pa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at United Baptist Church of Scranton, 213 S. Main Ave., Scranton, Pa., by the Rev. Earl O. Cassel, pastor. Immediate family will convene at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Davies and Jones before funeral Mass.
