Peter O'Malley Obituary

Peter T. O'Malley, Esq., Scranton, died Monday at Moses Taylor Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Florabel McGuigan.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Carlon M. and Lucy Boland O'Malley. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the University of Scranton, and he received a Juris Doctorate from the Villanova School of Law. He practiced law with his family and was recently recognized by the Lackawanna Bar Association for his service to the legal community for over 50 years. He was a member of Saint Paul's Church, Scranton.

Surviving are his dear friend, Mary Judith Colleran, Scranton; a son, Peter T. O'Malley Jr., Hong Kong; two brothers, Judge Carlon and wife, Kay, Clarks Summit; and attorney Todd and wife, Elizabeth, Scranton; two sisters, Dorothy Box, Scranton; and Mary and husband, John Cognetti, Scranton; two stepsisters, Michelle Cadden, New York; and Mary Cadden, Bethesda; a granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn O. Wirkman; a sister, Lucy Kay Rogers; and two brothers, attorney William P. O'Malley and Martin T. O'Malley; and his stepmother, Emily Cadden O'Malley.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge Street, Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Avenue, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All those attending the funeral are asked to proceed directly to the church the morning of the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Poor, 148 Meridian Avenue, Scranton, PA 18504.
