Robert W. Hocking, 66, of Olyphant, died unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Born in Scranton, to the late Marvin J. Hocking and Regina Grabowski Hocking, he graduated from Riverside High School in 1974. Prior to his recent retirement, he held a variety of jobs, primarily as a printer and bindery operator and most recently at Sprint Print in Chinchilla, where he was a highly valued employee, well-liked by coworkers and supervisors alike. This same natural likability extended into all areas of his nonprofessional and personal life. He will be greatly missed by many.
Robert was a charismatic man who would often grab a guitar and play Beatles songs for family and friends. He enjoyed meeting with a small group of lifelong friends in what he would refer to as "Lodge Meetings." He was an avid Penn State fan.
He is survived by two sons, Peter Hocking and Daniel Kimes (Lisa); former wife, Teresa Marsiliano Hocking; grandchildren, Ariel Kimes, Kaitlyn (Ian) Townend, Daniel Kimes, and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Rose Townend, all of Moosic; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Deborah Duffy in 2017 and Janet Schwartz in 2022.
Private services are being held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by the Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, 1132 Prospect Ave., South Scranton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
