Nancy Bell Obituary

Nancy Bell

Bradenton, FL

Nancy Bell, long time Bradenton, Florida resident passed away peacefully on October 21, 2013 following a long illness.  Nancy was 67 years old.

Nancy was born November 10, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan and raised north in the Port Huron area.  Nancy married her high school sweetheart and had a son, Bill Jr.  Nancy worked in special education 11 years and after remarrying in 1986, she permanently moved to Bradenton Florida, choosing a health care profession with elders.  She remained in this field until retirement in 2010.  She was a dedicated volunteer, serving as president of the Advisory Council for Meals on Wheels, and served on the board of Manatee Widowed Persons, started a county program for seniors with the American Red Cross, winning their "Excellence" award.  She was active in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and the local Arthritis Foundation.  She was a past member of Friends of the Library, and the local Alzheimer's Association.  Her simple joys in life worked their magic in her love of gardening, reading, travel, music and most importantly her family.

Nancy is survived by her son, Bill Steele Jr. and his wife, Traci (Sunnyside, WA), 2 beautiful grandchildren, Chelsea Steele and Jamie Taylor (Zachary), one great grandson, Hunter, as well as her 2 sisters and best friends, Barbara Lashbrook (Fort Gratiot, MI) and Kathy Tucker (Houston, TX).

Nancy's zest for life, compassion for others, incredible generosity and unending smile will be missed by her friends and family.  No formal service is planned however, a celebration of Nancy's life will be held with her family this summer.

Bill and Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember Nancy from childhood, she was a dear friend of my mothers Irene Campbell who passed away in 88. They knew each other during the days of The Travelers Lodge Dining where mom was a waitress (I can not remember if your mom worked there as well). I will never forget what a wonderful person your mom was, always smiling.Prayers are with you and the family.
