Fr Bob was a very good friend of mine, for me too in so many ways. May he rest in eternal peace. We met at the Holy Cross East Africa reunion at Notre Dame a couple of years ago and it was soooo good to see him and renew our friendship. I'll miss him for sure. Peace Bob. JIM Rahilly

Father Bob had an immeasurable impact on my faith and spirituality. He helped me make the spiritual transition between my home town youth, my college, and adult spirituality. He was my racket-ball partner for 5 years, even though he was 30 years my senior, he was great. He led us through our marriage preparation and went way above and beyond. He was our friend and mentor through life. He helped us through 24 years of marriage with all its challenges--including personally assisting when a 98 year old, demented grandmother came to live with us, the same year as our first son was born. He showed grandma love and tenderness and she truly enjoyed his visits. Father Bob loved the simple joys of life and shared a quiet, gentle humor throughout daily life. Each year he would help us tromp through the woods to find the perfect Christmas tree. One year he managed to pick out a tree that was half the size of our student housing living room--the memory still makes us laugh. I can't begin to share the treasures I have received from being blessed with Father Bob's friendship. I will hold them dear to my heart and continue to let them shape my soul.

Father Bob I am really going to miss your visits, the games we played, the fun we had, the way you answered my hard questions, our fishing trips together. You taught me so much. You showed me, in everything you did, what church tries to teach me. Your like part of our family and I am really going to miss you, but I will never forget you. Love, John

I have known Father Bob all of my 16 years. He has taught me more about spirituality and Christianity than anyone else. He was a Christ figure in my life. He could explain religion in a way that was interesting and understandable for kids and adults. He would let me ask all of my questions and never made me feel uncomfortable and always made me feel respected. He also was lots of fun to be with and would try anything with me--even sailing when I just learned at Boy Scout Camp. I am really going to miss him, but I sure am glad he came into by life for as long as he did. Love, James

I am a 6 year old, nutty, fun loving, hyper yellow lab. Father Bob loved me and wished I could live with him. He spent hours throwing the ball for me, walking me and showing me a ton of attention. He always brought me something to eat or play with. He was a dog's best friend. I will miss him.

I don't know where to begin to share my gratitude for having Father Bob in my life. He was our Priest at St. Paul's on the UW Madison campus. He married us, baptized our children and became one of our most dear friends. He was a Christ figure in our lives, not simply for what he spoke, but for how he lived. He went on many family vacations with us and came to stay with us in our home. He was more than a friend, he was part of our family. He was always willing and ready to go on many crazy adventures with us--right up until the end he was happy to try just about anything. We loved his spirit of adventure. We loved his kind and gentle ways. We loved his caring and compassion. We loved his insight and honesty. We simply loved him. Our lives have truly been blessed by his presence. I feel we have truly known God's love through Father Bob's love.
We will miss his physical presence, but his spirit will most certainly live on in each and everyone of us.
Thank you Bob!

Up for anything!

Father Bob was a compassionate, gentle soul who shared Christ's message mainly by example. His kindness, humility and humanity taught us so much. He truly lived his oath of poverty, but shared with us so much richness. We will miss his humor and sparkle. We love him dearly. Good work old faithful servant.
Thank you!
