Claire Farrell Obituary

BURLINGTON - Claire B. Farrell, 95, of Queen Ann Street, Burlington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Ashton Health & Rehab, McLeansville following several months of declining health.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was a devout Christian and great prayer warrior.

A native of Lumpkin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Messer (Dad) Gaydon and the late Frances B. Gaydon.

The youngest of her siblings, she was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church of Burlington and was formerly employed by Burlington Industries and retired from K Mart Corporation.

Mrs. Farrell is survived by her daughter, Debra Cardwell and husband (Randy), of Burlington; sons, Jerry Farrell of the home and Rodney Farrell and companion Lisa Hensley of Burlington, three grandchildren, Justin Farrell, Jennifer Farrell and Kailey Farrell, step grandchild, Shannon Whaley, four great-grandchildren, Bray, Blake, Abry & Colin, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family whom she dearly loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert O. Farrell; two sisters, Ola Mae Gaydon and Myna Lee Hammack; three brothers, Millard L. Gaydon, Dillard E. Gaydon and Joe B. Gaydon.

The family would like to thank all of the care providers of Ashton Health & Rehab for their loving and tender care, to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell and her special caregiver Melissa Dennis.

The celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel, 306 Glenwood Ave., Burlington by the Rev. Larry Redding, Pastor of Dayspring Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service and at other times at the home of daughter Debra Cardwell, 5408 S. NC 62, Burlington, NC. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glen Hope Baptist Church, 911 North Ave. Burlington, NC 27217 or to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell at 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
