David Cleveland Obituary

BURLINGTON - David L. Cleveland, 88, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Twin Lakes Community due to complications with Parkinson's disease.
He was born in Franklinton, Ky., to the late Horace S. Cleveland and the late Willibel Chilton Cleveland. David served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and graduated from the University of Kentucky as a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He worked as the Director of Development with Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College in Wilson, NC. He was a former member of the Lions Club in Kentucky and North Carolina and a member of Front Street Christian Church in Burlington, N.C.
Survivors include his wife of 66 and-a-half years, Ellen O'Bannon Cleveland, of the home; son, Larry Cleveland and wife Terri, of Wilmington; daughter, Nancy Cleveland Fogleman of Greensboro; grandson, John David Fogleman; brother, Robert Cleveland and wife Joan, of Winchester, Va.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 in the Twin Lakes Foley Chapel by the Rev. Dace Lewis and Father Mark Menees. The family will receive friends following the service in the Foley Chapel.
Memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Community, 3701 Wade Coble Drive, Burlington, NC 27215 or to the charity of one's choice.
