He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Meyers Francis and Theodore Francis; and his daughters, Catherine Angela Francis and Patricia Francis Sabala.

John was born in Boyce and was raised in Alexandria where he attended elementary schools and graduated from Bolton High School. After serving in the Army stateside, and being recalled to active service in Germany during tensions with the Soviet Union, he finished his college degrees at McNeese State University. He completed his Bachelor of Education in Health and Physical Education/Social Studies, his M.A. in Administration and Supervision there, then his Masters +30 at Northwestern State University. He often said after retirement, "I just miss the kids." John was loved, respected and admired in the communities where he made positive contributions. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Alexandria and the Knights of Columbus as a 3rd Degree Knight in Council #8029. Finally, John was active in the community helping to establish a neighborhood watch with community police officers and participating in many local, state, and national elections. He will be missed by all.

Mr. Francis truly cared about his kids. I recall him being very involved in the daily activities while serving as principal in Boyce, LA.
He would occasionally visit parents at their homes which displayed the amazing relationship he had with us all.
Thank you Mr. Francis for caring about us academically as well as our home life.
And thank YOU to his family for sharing him with his students. We are far better off because of him.

We were so sorry to hear about Mr. Fransis' passing. He gave me my first teaching job at Poland Jr. High in 1988. He was always supportive and loved the students. I will always have fond memories of him.

To the Francis family,
My sincere condolences are extended to you. Mr. Francis served as our first Principal of Special School District/Pinecrest. He laid the groundwork for what many believed would soon be a defunct program. It has survived for 40 years because of his strong beginning. I have to smile whenever I think of him because he brought so much joy, inspiration, and encouragement to those who served under his leadership. " You weathered the storm, Mr. Francis, and brought us through the hard times. I will forever cherish fond memories of you."

I had the opportunity to work with John in SSD#1 at Pinecrest. I thought very highly of him and have always had a tremendous amount of admiration for him. He was an individual who had a positive effect on my life, and for that I will always be grateful to him.

Murray Jean and Family. Please accept our prayers for you in this difficult time. I wish that people had known John like I had known him. I owe him a lot. He was responsible for getting me back to school to finish my degree and he even helped me get school paid for via Louisiana Vocational-Rehabilitation. I KNOW John lived to help people and did so many things for others that most people have no idea about. There's a lot about "Coach" that will be missed....by me and by many. Privileged...no, HONORED to have been able to call him 'friend'.
