Richard Tassin Obituary

Funeral services for Richard Paul Tassin, 87, of Mansura, will be held on October 29, 2010 at 12 noon at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father Chad Partain officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of the funeral. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Mausoleum in Mansura under the direction of Escude Funeral Home.
Richard was an Army Veteran of World War II as a technician for the 346th Signal Company. Richard was also in the grocery store business for many years. He owned and operated the Bargainette Food Store in Mansura.
Richard was a member of the American Legion for 60 years and served as an usher at St. Paul's Catholic Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Voorhies and Mathilda Tassin, and one sister, Nora Laborde.
He is survived by his wife, Ily Yennie Tassin, who has also been his caretaker these past two years; one daughter, Sandra Tassin Swindler and husband Howard; two sons, Donald P. Tassin and wife Annette and Ronald P. Tassin and wife Nell, all of Mansura and seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Richard will be remembered for his generosity and his wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Avoyelles Hospice for the kind and compassionate care that was given to him during his illness. We will be forever grateful.

Sandy,
I was sorry to hear of your loss. Your Dad was a great guy and I know you will miss him, but with a nice family like yours you will get through this sad period.
