Patricia Delaney Obituary

Patricia L. Delaney, 54, of Maple St., Pawcatuck, Conn., died peacefully Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at R.I. Hospital surrounded by her family after a five month battle with brain cancer.
Pat was the cherished daughter of Marcia H. Delaney and the late Lawrence J. Delaney of Mystic Ave. She was the loving sister of Janine (Kevin) Sylvia of Niantic, Conn.; William (MaryEllen) Delaney of Boston, Mass.; Timothy Delaney of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and sister-in-law of Keith Kimberlin of Westerly, R.I. She was beloved "Aunt Pat" to Atty. Matthew Kimberlin (Atty. Tamiel Holloway); Caitlin Kimberlin (Andrew Bailey) and Landon Bailey; Julianne Sylvia, Christian Sylvia, and Courtney Delaney. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Kimberlin, in 2001.
In addition to her immediate family, Pat left behind her uncle, aunts, and cousins who she treasured as well as many dear friends who lovingly supported her throughout her illness especially Ken Engle and George Kozakis.
Pat grew up in Pawcatuck attending local schools and graduating from Stonington High School in 1978 where she excelled at field hockey and softball. In 1982 she earned a B.S. degree in Physical Education from Central Connecticut State University. She went on to have a long and successful career at Allstate Insurance as a Frauds Investigator until her illness in July. The friendships that she developed through her job were lifelong ones which she held dear to her heart.
Pat loved family, friends; her precious dachshunds; listening to Jimmy Buffett; gardening and her summer vacation on Block Island. The little cottage that she rented each summer was her special place which she always shared with family and friends. Her home in Pawcatuck reflected her love of gardening and visitors always commented that it looked as if it had been plucked straight off Block Island and placed on Maple St. Pat will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
The Delaney family would like to thank Tricia Barber, RN at the Westerly Hospital Emergency Department and Dr. Elinzano, Maeve Dargush NP, R.I. Hospital Department of Neurology, Physicians, Nurses, Techs and CNA's who helped care for Pat during her stays there. All of you were wonderful to her and us during this difficult time.
The Delaney family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St. Westerly, R.I. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Stonington Borough, 95 Main St. Stonington, Conn. Burial will follow in River Bend Cemetery, Beach St. Westerly.
In lieu of flowers, Pat's family suggests a donation be made in her memory to Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue P.O Box 147 Jacobus, PA 17407, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678

Dearest Tim and Lisa, please accept our sincerest sympathies at this time. You quit your jobs and moved back here to be at her side. That was a selfless, true and loving act.

We know that Pat loved and cherished you, Tim; and Lisa, you were her best friend in the world. We know that Pat would have moved Heaven and Earth for both of you, if the tables were turned. Rest easy now, Pat.
