Darla Moore Obituary

Darla Jean Moore

Darla Jean Moore, age 68, passed away suddenly in her home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon on the morning of September 17, 2021, of natural causes. She was born April 23, 1953, in Arcata, California to James and Geraldine Frasier. She and her family moved to Eureka, California where she met the love of her life, Ken Moore.
Darla started attending gospel meetings regularly with Kenny and his family, which eventually prompted him to ask her on their first date. Darla and Kenny started "going steady" in 1968 when Kenny gave her his football pin. Darla professed her devotion to God in 1969. Kenny and Darla were married on September 9, 1972, in Eureka. It was Darla's dream to be a mother. Ken and Darla adopted their first son, Thomas, on the day he was born in March of 1984. Soon after, they adopted their second son, Jon, on the day he was born in September of 1985. They welcomed their third son, Timothy, in January of 1987. Their first daughter, Kelli, was born in July of 1990, and their last child, Heidi, was born in March of 1993.
A dear friend of Darla's said it best… "There are so many pieces of Darla to be loved and admired. She was a woman of faith. She married her high school sweetheart, and they couldn't wait to have a family of their own. Her 5 kids, son & daughter in laws and her grandkids were her whole entire world. She was the best mom and grandma to not only her children and their spouses, but countless others. She was passionate and an advocate who fought for what she believed in. A very proud Navy mom that didn't just worry and pray for the safety of her son, but everyone else's as well. A talented seamstress and baker who enjoyed making dresses for her beloved granddaughters and pies upon pies for holiday dinners. Darla was the heart of her family and always made sure everyone was taken care of."
Darla is survived by her husband of 49 years, Kenny, her 5 children and their spouses, Thomas and Robert Blair, Jon and Yvette Moore along with their children Cameron, Carmen and Nathan, Tim and Brennan Moore along with their children Claira, Ellie and Presley, Kelli and Sev Shoemaker and Heidi Moore and Martin Tabaco, siblings Jimmy and Julie, as well as countless friends and family who came to think of her as a second mom and confidant.
A celebration of life for Darla will be held October 9, 2021, in Eureka, CA at 1pm. Details regarding the service, a zoom link for virtual attendance, and ways to support the family can be located on the 'Darla Moore Memorial' Facebook page.

I just found out today about Darla´s passing, and wanted to extend my sympathy to all of her family.

I worked with Darla at Daly´s in the 1980´s and knew her as a sweet, kind, and calm person with great people skills.

I remember so well when she adopted Thomas, and how happy she was. My one and only child was born the following year, and we had so much to talk about, comparing baby notes.

Darla is the Heavenly Father´s arms now and safe and very much loved.

Sincerely,
Benita

Darla was a good friend. This world is a much more solemn place without her in it. My love, thoughts and prayers go out to her family and many friends.

We have such good memories of Darla and Ken down thru the decades. My earliest memory is off them as a young couple, Joe remembers when Darla came to gospel mtgs in the beginning. I picture her at Orick holding Thomas the first child, so long awaited and loved. Then on... had such a wonderful visit At Saginaw for which I´ll be eve so grateful as my last memory. Love, care and concern for all her family left. But I know Darla is rejoicing in what she lived for now.

There are those that come and go in our lives that leave a mark on us. Then, there was Darla, that changed lives simply by being herself, in all ways. Her life was and will continue to be, a loving memorial to the simple greatness of a woman of faith.
