Beverly Tanguay Obituary

BARRE CITY - Beverly A. Tanguay, R.N., 90, a long-time resident of Park Street, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Lincoln House on Hill Street where she had lived since July of 2015.
Born June 27, 1926, in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Thomas and Lillian (Beaton) Tanguay. She attended Barre City schools and graduated from Spaulding High School in 1944.
In 1947, she graduated from the former Barre City Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Beverly enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a nurse, first as a nursing supervisor at the former Barre City Hospital and we will always remember her as the principal nurse for the late Dr. Ernest V. Reynolds for many years. When his office closed, she continued her career in nursing at the former McFarland House in Barre City and the Woodridge Nursing Home in Berlin, retiring in 2005.
Beverly enjoyed her many visits to New York City, its art museums, Broadway shows and the city's history, as well as many trips to Maine's beaches with her family. She also loved gambling in Las Vegas with friends, flower gardening and reading mystery novels.
Besides her sisters-in-law, Beverly Riddel Tanguay, of South Burlington, and Estelle Tanguay, of Barre Town, survivors include nieces Michele Burak and her husband, William; Patti Boyce and her husband, Jeffrey; Andrea Merritt and her husband, John; Dawn Tanguay; Pamela Simendinger and her husband, David; nephews Jeffrey Tanguay and his wife, Qin; Thomas Tanguay; and Michael Sassi and his wife, Donna, and cousins Donna Scott and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Hillarie, Karrin and Cheryl Currier, and her husband, David, and more distant relatives.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Charles, Barry, and Donald Tanguay, and special cousin, Ruth Beaton.
Beverly's life was honored and celebrated with her graveside and committal service on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Hope Cemetery in Barre City, with the Rev. Laura Cadmus, pastor of the Berlin Corner Congregational Church leading the service.
Rev. Cadmus read a poetic tribute to Beverly and her profession, "The Nurses Prayer."
In attendance was a delegation of former nursing colleagues and representatives from Lincoln House on Hill Street where she had resided for the past year.
Fellowship, a sharing time and luncheon followed at the home of cousin Donna and Kevin Scott on Park Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Resident Activity Fund, Lincoln House, 120 Hill St., Barre, VT 05641, or the Central Vermont Humane Society, P.O. Box 687, Montpelier, VT 05601-0687.

Bev was an awesome lady and nurse. She gave so much to people that a lot of people don,t even know about. She loved going to Maine and las Vegas. She so loved flowers and gave many to people she loved. As a trip is coming up to Maine I had just thought about going to the Goldenrod to get saltwater taffy for her. God Bless you dear lady. My thoughts are with your family Bev RIP.
