James Thomas Lipscomb Jr.

James Thomas Lipscomb Jr., 81, of Mechanicsville, died peacefully Wednesday, July 9, 2003 of esophageal cancer. He was a retired carpenter, and after retirement had spent many hours helping at Ted Filers Mechanicsville Motors. Mr. Lipscomb is survived by his wife, Gwen Burrell Lipscomb; sons, Lynn Lipscomb and Lee Lipscomb and wife, Pat; a daughter, Cindy Lipscomb Culp and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Tommy, Scott and Josh Lipscomb, Alex Culp and Lacy Richmond. He is also survived by a stepmother, Frances Lipscomb; sisters, Catherine Coffman and Mary Walls; brothers, Frank, Harold and Lynwood Lipscomb. The family will receive friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside funeral will be held 3 p.., Friday, July 11 in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va.
