James Lipscomb Obituary

James Thomas Lipscomb Jr., 81, of Mechanicsville, died peacefully Wednesday, July 9, 2003 of esophageal cancer. He was a retired carpenter, and after retirement had spent many hours helping at Ted Filers Mechanicsville Motors. Mr. Lipscomb is survived by his wife, Gwen Burrell Lipscomb; sons, Lynn Lipscomb and Lee Lipscomb and wife, Pat; a daughter, Cindy Lipscomb Culp and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Tommy, Scott and Josh Lipscomb, Alex Culp and Lacy Richmond. He is also survived by a stepmother, Frances Lipscomb; sisters, Catherine Coffman and Mary Walls; brothers, Frank, Harold and Lynwood Lipscomb. The family will receive friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside funeral will be held 3 p.., Friday, July 11 in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Hanover Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 454, Mechanicsville, Va. 23111 or the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
