Kenneth Ray Lindsey

April 8, 1948 - October 14, 2024

Lindsey, Kenneth Ray, 76, of Varina passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 14, 2024. He was born April 8, 1948, the son of Gladys A. and Kenneth E. Lindsey.

Kenny graduated from Varina High School, Class of 1966. From 1967-1971 he was a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force and served as a Flight Crew Chief on the B-52 bomber in Southeast Asia. After serving his country, he joined the Henrico Division of Police. During his 25 years with the Division, he served in various units including: Uniform Patrol, Pilot in the Aerial Unit, Investigator, Special Action Force, School Resource Investigator, Detective in the Property Crimes Section, and Hiring Coordinator in the Personnel Unit. He retired in 1999 as a Detective. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was active in the Henrico Retired Police Officer's Association.

Kenny was also a long-term member of Lions International, where he was a past president of the Varina Lions Club, and a founding member and Charter President of the Richmond Battlefield Park Lions Club. He was honored by his club by being named a Melvin Jones Fellow of Lions International.

Kenny had a passion for old cars his entire life and enjoyed driving one of his street rods every chance he got.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Matthew Scott. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; son, Travis, and his wife, Heather; sister, Brenda Hall (John); and brother, Langdon (Terry). He also leaves behind many other family members and friends. The family will receive friends, on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, October 21, 2024. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to Henrico Lodge Charitable Foundation, PO Box 1157, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
