Thomas Nash Obituary

NASH, Thomas "Tom" Herman, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away, at the age of 83, on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Mechanicsville, Va. Tom had many loving nicknames, like "Tommy," "Buddy," "Grandpa Nash" and "Puca." Tom was born in 1938 in Norfolk County, Va. Tom was very proud recalling his early days working on the dairy farm. He graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1956 and later, attended John Tyler Community College. Tom served in the Air Force from 1961 to 1967 and enjoyed talking about his time in Okinawa. He spent a few years working for the airlines before joining DuPont. He served in many areas of the plant and retired as a Technical Engineer with over 30 years of service. In the 1970s, Tom also volunteered for the East Hanover Rescue Squad. Tom was a Christian and attended Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Tom enjoyed many activities with his family, such as boating, camping, traveling and spending time at the river. He took great pride in fixing and maintaining his home and vehicles and in teaching his kids important life skills. Tom derived the most joy from helping others. He will be remembered for his honesty, loyalty, strong work ethic, devotion to his family and his ability to make people laugh and have a good time. His children will also remember him as a dedicated and loving father who always offered a listening ear and sound advice. He loved his many pets and particularly, his dog, cats and "Charlie" bird. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary McIvor Nash; his parents, Matthew Newell Nash and Eugenia Rea Nichols, of Chesapeake, Va.; and his sister, Mary Alice Nash Bulifin of Chesapeake, Va. Tom is survived by his son, Craig A. Nash (Kimberly); and grandchildren, Ashley N. Price (Justin), Katlyn J. Nash, Dustin T. Nash and Colton L. Nash; and great-granddaughter, Elliana R. Price; his son, Christopher H. Martin (Karen); grandchildren, Jordan M. Beason (Joshua) and Hunter A. Martin (Kirsti); and great-grandchildren, Payton and Aubree; his daughter, Jennifer N. Such a shock. Great High Class of 1956 is losing so many classmates. Living in Chester Va, I had been to Huguenot Church so many times for grandchildren activities. If we lost Thomas to kidneys , I know the sorrow. My Mom died on dialysis in Richmond.
